MicroSquirt.com read only forum (Jan.15,2018)

I'm new to fuel injection and going to be buying a Microsquirt when they come out, and as it has to come all the way from the USA to the UK i'm going to get a innovate LC-1 kit at the same time.

I've got a couple of questions:
Do i really need an air fuel gauge? At first i was just going to get one, but the more i've read the less use i think it really has, and the only advantage i can see with getting the XD-16 gauge over the basic one is the ability to calibrate the sensor at with a button on the gauge (but i can rig a switch to do this anyway).

Its not a cost issue, my question is, will it serve a purpose? This is going to be on a race bike, so its not as if i'm going to have a lot of spare time to study it while ridding.

I've also got a question about logging, can Microsquirt log without a PC attached to it (not easy carrying a PC round on a bike!) do i need something else for logging?

you will need to have some idea of your air fuel mixture, as for the lc-1...i would read a bit more about them. i went for the techedge...which was cheaper.
you dont need a gauge, if your are using a laptop....you can use a palm to log.
i just use a laptop in a back pack...with the lid closed. you can then use megalog viewer, which is a great program

Ah so the software will work on windows mobile? or do you mean a palm running xp?

I've seen the Techedge, but i cant find any info saying if the controller waterproof... i'm pretty sure the innovate one is, and i need stuff to be water proof on a race bike.

you can use palm tune on a palm.....once you get it connected it s quite useful
i just found it easier to log and ride for 15 minutes at a time , as for the wideband....go for the make that is local for you. that way if there are any problems you can get it fixed

thanks, just been reading about the palm software, i don't have one but i do have a quite expensive laptop so i cant really use that. I'm going to buy one of the small solid state laptops you can get for about £200.

I've been reading up on them again (neither are close to me, I'm in the UK) and i think i'm still going to go for the innovate as it'll actually work out cheaper if i order it from the USA, even with the weakened exchange rate.

they tested it at 16W with a 2.5" hard drive, but i'll use flash memory and an ide adapter. Only issue is most PC's need a mouse to boot up... some even a monitor.

should be able to leave it on the bike somewhere
