Project...fzr1000 fuel only
tacho input comes from negative side of my coil through a zener diode.
problem...the bike keeps shutting down if i ride it hard, once the engine is hot. say after half an hour of riding, the bike keeps shutting down...i have to switch the engine kill switch off then on again.
i have tested :- the generator..ok, coils...ok, leads and plugs..ok, earth wiring.. ok,
the battery is new, the fuel pump has been replaced, the relays have been replaced, the zener diode has been replaced.
when i managed to get home the microsquirt was hot.
the only thing i have not replaced is the microsquirt...is it possible to break down under load. is there anyway to test my input circuit

regards gary

Is there any pattern to it shutting down? For instance, does it die once you reach a certain RPM? If it's hot and you put it on the kickstand and rev it up with no load, does it die as well?

basically, if i ride like an old woman...it seems to be ok for quite a while.
but if i start to use the revs and over half throttle thats when it starts happening.
firstly it dies for a split second, i know the system is resetting because my afr meter goes it to heating mode.
as the engine goes for longer it gets worse to the point where i end up having to switch the kill switch off then on again, my afr gauge goes blank as well.
i have managed to log it happening, up until i get a reset...every thing seems fine.
i will try to post up a log

This sounds a lot like the problem I had from overdriving the VR input. What's your tach input circuit look like now?

Are you using high impedance injectors?

Might be worth testing the current draw on the 5V ref line feeding your sensors?

Sounds like something is getting overloaded over time. The uS unit should not get very warm.

All the wires you are not using, I guess they are all insulated from touching anything?

Yes I know, the silly questions first but someone has to ask : )

in a bid to get this sorted out i have had my generator upgraded.
i have also managed to squeeze a R1 pump in to my tank.
so hopefully with a smaller fuel pump and bigger generator it will be fixed
