Odd Question about Ford EDIS-6

I currently am in the process of swapping a 3.0 SHO engine in my thunderbird and had a question about the cran trigger system. If memory serves me right the stock crank trigger is only 3 vanes off the crank and then there's a cam sensor too. Would I have to change it to something else or can I stick with the stock setup? Plans are to have it boosted later is why I'm wanting to use megasquirt as opposed to the tweecer.

Hi Methos -
If the 3 crank vanes are evenly spaced, and the cam sensor gives (or can be modified to give) one pulse per cam revolution, you should be able to use the Dual Wheel mode in the Extra code. Read about it here to decide if it's for you : http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/wheel2.html

hopefully by the time that I can get all this put together I can understand how all that works... but the main reason that I want to use MS is that it doesn't care what the impedance of the injectors are and its completely customizable... when I finally make it boosted, I'll start with low impedance 35lb injectors for turbo 4 cyl fords... then step up as needed... but so far, MS-II and the V3 board is going to end up being my choice of management...

Does this engine have a distributor?
If yes then three vanes on the crank will work fine for timing using a single coil and distributor. Either MS2 or MS1/Extra will do this.

no, the yamaha v6 has only a crank sensor and a cam sensor that is on the end of the left bank intake cam (I think that's where I remember it being)
