Trying to load code...
I have a 2.2 board with early MSII with the c32 so I understand I need the Monitor_v1.34.abs.s19 code. When I try to load the code a "ERROR: Could not read status code, 0x0D 0x00" come up.
The board echos fine in miniterm and checks out in all other ways I have tried.
I tried the capital "S" and nothing comes back-so there is no code installed.
Any ideas where I went wrong/need to look or things to try?
I do wish these newer versions were as simple to use as my old 1.1!

Are you following the steps here:
http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/code.htm
including using the bootloader pin on the MS-I board, not the one on the main board?

You might want to provide us more details.
Did you try it more than once?
Did you try all the steps in the coinnection guide? What happened at each step?
Have you tried another computer?
Are you using a serial/USB connector?
Have you set the port and speed in the downloader? In MegaTune?
Are you using the latest version of the downloader?
It's not impossible that the bootloader (technically the 'serial monitor') was never burned to MS-II, or has been wiped out by static. If you pass every test in the connection guide, and switching computers and cabbles doesn't help, then I would return the MS-II to the vendor you bought it from for an exchange.

I am using a straight serial cable-tested to ensure all pins went straight through.
I tried several times with the same result
I only have one computer to try it with
The port and speed were set in the downloader and Megatune (it echos fine)
I followed all the steps in the link to #6 where the error message occured
It may be possible that the chip has been wiped by static. It is one of the early versions bought in '04 if I remember correctly (not from a vendor) and has been in a box with the assembled PC board for quite a while.
I'll try again this weekend when I get a chance but all I really want is to upgrade to 12x12 tables and add EDIS to my car (my v1.1 is just fuel and works pretty darn well for the past 2 years). The normal MS chip will work with one of the spark code variants to get me where I want to be. Once you see the stock ignition signal dance around on the tuning screen you realize how bad the crank/timing chain/cam/distributor system really is.
I am a great hardware guy but not very good when it comes to this computer stuff.
