I'm a bit confused about which version of firmware would be best in my MS2/V3.

I have:
Toyota 7MGE straight six, 24 tooth VR wheel in the dizzy as well as a 1 tooth wheel below that with two other VR sensors which i hadn't planned on using, stock coil wired up for direct control. stepper IAC motor, stock IAT and CLT sensors, injectors wired up 1,3,5 & 2,4,6. I think thats all

I haven't done any cutting on the 24 tooth wheel yet. i saw where a few guys had turned the 24 tooth cam sensor off a 7MGTE into
(2) 12-1 wheels and planed on following suit. any ideas?

Hello, I don't think MS2 will handle wheel decoding yet with any offically released software. There is beta code that will handle it. MSI with the extra software will handle the wheel in it's stock format with the VR conditioner circuit.
Personally I'm going with the beta code, it seems fairly stable so far.

Thanks for the info, thats about what i had decided to do. How are you going to arrange the wheel for the decoder? 12-1? I don't want to incorrectly cut the distributor.

I was going to cut off two teeth on opposite sides and have what would appear to the MS as a 12-1 crank wheel. will that work? does it matter which teeth i cut off as long as they are on opposite sides?

12-1 as well. Two teeth opposite of each other on the wheel. I don't think it matters which, as you can adjust mechanically and in the software to get the missing teeth where they need to be.

Ok, So I loaded up V2.686t6.s19 file to the ecu and loaded the new 2.6.ini and cut off a couple of teeth on the distributor wheel. so I now have (2) 12-1 wheels out of the original 24 tooth wheel. I hooked the dizzy up to a cordless drill and got about 1200 RPM max out of it, and the injectors were clicking, so i thought it was working. I put the engine back together and tried to crank it up but got nothing.. I hooked up a timing light and it dosen't seem to flash nearly as fast as it should I blinks about once every two revolutions. I setup the toothed wheel dialog as follows:
12 teeth,4 skip teeth, 1 missing tooth and 11 delay teeth. It did backfire once loud enough to scare the crap out of me and might have sputtered a few other times.

It seems to me that the 2nd missing tooth coming around just after #1TDC is screwing up the sync. I think i might have messed up by cutting off two opposite teeth. anyone have any ideas?

no - you did right by cutting off two opposite teeth.

it's working when it's at TDC (as far as the ECU is concerned) that's the problem. backfire means timing is way out/off.

A delay teeth of 11 puts the tach signal directly on a missing tooth and this is not allowed. If the first tach signal you want is near the missing tooth, then just set Delay_Teeth = 0 and use the trigger offset to fine tune.
