Is it worth it for me to buy an LM1 and MS?

I know that LM1s come with the box readout and the WB with datalog capbaility. But if megasquirt does this stuff already, why cant i just buy a WB and plug it into the MS?

Is there a WB out there that plugs into the MS and lets me datalog just like a regular LM1 would?

the LM1 also comes with the controller that drives the O2 sensor and provides a useful signal to MS.

You cant just connect a 5-wire wideband sensor up to the MS - it needs some smarts.

I'm currently using my LM-1 hooked up to my MS for the initial tuning stage then am swapping to an LC-1 when finished.

Works a treat

Ok thanks.

But i wanted to know if i should purchase the auxbox too. its 370 bucks for the LM1 kit and the MS is around 400 assembled. I just dont see why i need the whole LM1 kit with rpm converter if i get MS.

I dont get how to datalog A/F with the MS, why cant i just buy an LC1 and use that with the MS? its cheaper

My LM-1 was the best $400 I ever spent.

Ok cool,

why are you switching to LC1 when you already have the LM1?

Can anyone answer my question, if i buy an LC1 with megasquirt will that accomplish the same thing as an LM1 with a megasquirt? I want to see how my A/F varies with RPM.

Im not getting a clearcut solution, ive searched and nothing is clear on WBs and MS.

The LC1 and LM1 have the same sensor. They also both have a 0-5 volt linear output. The LM1 has the advantage of having a display.
So you dont need the laptop hooked up.

I use the LC1 with MS and read/log the values from the laptop to tune.

SPending the extra for the LM1 is only worth the money if you are planning on moving it from car to car to tune.

so in conclusion, we can get LC1 sensor with controller will work if we directly connect it up to MS and observe the a/f from the datalogging?

while LM1 package comes with an external display device which allow us to monitor the a/f without the lap top attached to the MS.

am i getting these correctly?

You can also build a MegaView and it will display AF ratio for you.

DIYAutotune has the LC-1 for $199 and the MV for 135. The MV has more funtionality than just displaying AF ratio as well. Just a thought.
