flywheel decode problem

Post by fixxer »

Hi there,

i have problems with decoding my flywheel. Here is a picture of the flywheel but i don't know how to count the big tooth(as one or two). I tried alot of variants with 22-2 pattern, also with 22-1, 21-1 but i couldn't make it.

I'll be very grateful if somebody can help me do decode this pattern, it's trigger angle, trigger A, trigger A return, tooth count

I'm using:
MS V2.2
Extra 024s9
4cyl. Renault engine

Thanks in advance

Here is a picture if we look at the wheel as 22-1 pattern:
That means that for 44 tooth wheel we have 8,18 degrees per tooth. We need to fire every 180 degrees (for the whole 44 tooth wheel) or one time for every 22 teeth.

Are this settings correct:
if the bigger tooth is readed from the VR sensor as one tooth
Wheel decoder base teeth: 21
Missing teeth: -1
Trigger A: 1
Trigger A return: 12
Trigger Angle: 89 ( 360/44*(12-1) )

With the wheel configured as a 21-1 and any trigger A (e.g. 2) do you get any rpm?
For initial startup I would suggest using "Timebased cranking" and zero for the trigger return.

okay i set
Wheel decoder base teeth: 21
Missing teeth: -1
Trigger A: 2
Trigger A return: 12
Trigger angle: 81

there are rpm's but they aren't correct (above 20000). i've tested time based with trigger angle 89, trigger A: 2, trigger A return: 0, - the situation was the same incorrect rpm's

the best settings that i've set are:
Wheel decoder base teeth: 22
Missing teeth: -2
Trigger A: 9
Trigger A return: 13
Trigger angle: 32

I was in a service-station and when the engine is cranking there are 20 degrees advance ( iginitione scope at 1st cylinder ) and the engine tried to start a couple of times..

Trigger A: 9
Trigger A return: 13

Go for earlier trigger teeth so you can increase your trigger angle. With a setting of 32degrees you can't really advance your engine much beyond 22deg which is very low.
