Laptop crashes after first startup of Megatune...

Post by JSchlappi82 »

Hi, i've got an IBM Thinkpad 390x series laptop, and i installed Megatune, it worked fine, but when i closed it, and opened megatune again, Windows XP gives me an error message, the one where its asking to send a rapport, or not.

Anyone knows what this could be? 256 mb memory should be enough?

JSchlappi82,

256 MB is way more than enough for MegaTune.

Are you seeing the error described here: http://www.msefi.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19757 ?

If not, can you post the exact error.

Lance.

No, thats not the one, i'll try to make a printscreen of it.

I read somewhere a time ago, the country/region options of WinXP need to be english?

I'm not sure where to change this setting...

JSchlappi82,

I'm glad reinstalling WinXP fixed it. The problem *might* come back with certain Windows updates, though, so keep an eye on it, and let us know if it happens again.

The problem came back after reinstalling the NOD32 antivirus. Whenever i started MT it came with an error.

After reinstalling NOD32 it went away...

Nope, not true...

MegaTune keeps interfering with Eset NOD32 antivirus....

Lost the NOD, and Megatune keeps running fine...

JSchlappi82,

You can try running Megatune in one of the compatibility modes - you can choose from Win98 through to WinME. You do this by right clicking on the icon and choose the compatibility tab.

Also, there might be an 'exceptions' list in your anti-virus software (check the WinXP secutity setting as well), and you might add MegaTune to that.

Wooaah!

I got it work, it tryed the compatibility mode, but the normal operating system (no compatibility) and after that you get a screen, and i chose "No Visual Themes" that seemed to do the trick!

I have set all settings to "Classic Windows" and for best performance, and now it seems to run fine...
