using a second wideband sensor on a Rover V8

Post by wuffwaff »

Hi,

this is my first post on this forum. I just finished building my Megasquirt (V3 board with MS-II v2.36). Thanks to the very good documentation it worked right away (on the stim....) and I tried configuring it for my car (a 1997 Westfield with a 3.9 Rover V8 with EDIS-8 and innovate LC-1).

One thing I wanted to do was to set the sensitivity for the TPS signal as low as possible to avoid acceleration enrichment during tuning but somehow I can´t set the value in the accelleration wizard higher as 25 (%/s) wich is too low to avoid enrichment. Higher values are changed when sent to the ECU and fetched after that. Is this a known problem?

The second question I have concerns the dual table option. I would like to use one LC-1 sensor per cylinder bank (the standard setup also has one lambda sensor per bank). There are options for dual VE and AFR tables and for one or two wideband sensors but the problem is that I can´t find any detailed information on where to connect the second sensor and if autotune etc. will work. Maybe someone can help me out?

thanks,

William

wuffwaff,

Yes, this is a know issue, it will be fixed with the next release of MegaTune.

For the wideband documentation, check this thread: http://www.msefi.com/viewtopic.php?p=11 ... +wb#112035 (it hasn't quite been added to the manual yet...)

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply!

So if I understand this right it would mean that for a second sensor I would:

1. duplicate input circuit (R10, R11, C10) on proto board
2. connect the input to SPR1 (PIN3 on DB37)
3. connect the output to JMP JS5 wich is connected to AD6-1

Hi William,

You're spot on for connecting a second LC-1. I have a two LC-1s on a Rover V8, and it works very well.

Good luck with your install.

Hi Matt,

thanks. Do you use the standard IAC stepper? If so maybe you could sent me the setup (open value etc.). This would make things easier for me.

Hi William,

I do use the standard IAC stepper for idle control.

I use a start value of 170 steps, I will send you a PM with the rest of my settings. I strongly advise you to go the setup process in the suggested in the Megamanual as your setup may be slightly different. There may be manufacturing tolerances in the stepper or housing that will make a difference in each case.

I have not been able to get the engine to do hot idle with the stepper fully closed. It seems that no matter how far I open the bypass screw, there's still not enough air for idle. So, I have to keep the stepper partially open even when hot. This may not be an ideal situation.

Hope that helps. Matt.

William,

Yes, that's 100% correct.

autotune with dual tables

Post by wuffwaff »

Hi,

I connected the input circuitry to JS5 and SPR4 (wich was not hidden under the MAP sensor) and modified the stimulator for an output to pin6.

Works fine.

What doesn´t seem to work though is autotune. Well it works on one table at a time but not on both simultainiously.

Is there a fix for this or do I have to do my tuning twice?

When I tune one table is the EGO correction still working on the other table?

William

Hi William,

Check out your custom.ini file to change these settings. Each VE table has it's own autotune settings. The correction for the table is set in the "corrector" variable.

I have mine set for VETable1:
corrector = egoCorrection1

and for VETable2:
corrector = egoCorrection2

I believe the autotune currently only tunes the table you have open, hence you have to do one at a time. However I understand that the new MS-II code currently in Beta test has Automatic Mixture Control which will do both simultaneously, although I have yet to test it properly.

Hope that helps. Matt.

Hi Matt,

yes I know. The autotune works nicely but like I said only on one table at a time. I read about the AMC in another thread and hope that version 2.6XX will be ready before my car is.
