My ecu keeps resetting. I've re booted my firmware extra 29q. I'm running MSI V3.0 It will reset whenever it wants at random. I'm not sure what to do. Here is my info...the data log was at idle for a short time, it reset several times.

kg6dxn,
You have a number of tach spikes, and these can cause resets occassionally. Are you controlling ignition timing - if so what method/module? If you are triggering from the coil, do you have the Dave cap (C30) installed?
It also looks like the battery voltage may be dropping right before a reset. Try making a datalog with the battery voltage in the log (I don't see it in yours), Ask on the MSnS-E forums about how to do this (I am not familiar with MSnS-E). Typically the noise in the battery line comes from the alternator, but things like electric fans or fuel pumps can also do it. You can try shutting off the engine, disconnecting the alternator, then see if you still have resets. Turn the engine off before reconnecting the alternator.
The usual solution to noisy power supplies is to add a car stereo power supply filter to Megasquirt's power line (these are cheap, ~$5, and commonly available).
Also, while you are sorting the reset issue, turn the baro correction off - otherwise the engine runs very badlly after a reset. If baro correction is off, it should run more nearly the same (except for afterstart enrichment, which will kick in on each reset, but only for a second or two).

Megasquirt is not in control of my ignition. It only receives a signal directly from the distributor; A Mallory Unilite. I run a MSD Timing computer along with a MSD-AL Capacitive Discharge ignition module. The MSD provides 6 sparks per cylinder, per ignition cycle, up to 3000 rpm at which time there is only one spark. My distributer has no advance (locked out), all advance is provided by the timing computer. I have 2-6800uf caps in parallel on the supply power side of the MSD to remove spikes and a 1f cap at the alternator/battery connection.
I did notice the rpm spikes in the data log. I'm not sure what is causing them. I will look into a "dave cap", perhaps that will help.
I moved my B+ for MS away from my CD ignition and the resets have lessoned but not gone away completely. Today I drove the car 80 miles and it reset only 3 times.
I am willing to entertain any other ideas.

I've installed the "dave" cap. I will soon tell you if that cured the problem. Thanks, Mike
