edis HELP!!!!!!

Post by lamboman12345 »

HI

I am running a cadillac northstar 2000 engine with the edis 8 system ,I have the MS2 with V.3 board.
my engine is not starting for a week of trying to start .
the engine is stalling and alot of smoke coming out from the ex pipes and smell of fuel .
I don't know if it's the firing order that is bad or the computer is missing somthing in the assembly but by the stim everything is fine with it .
do I need to tune somthing in the megatune befor trying to start ?
the firing order of my coils are: {down} 1or4 {up}6or7 {right} 2or3{down} 5or8 and the engine firing order is a:12734568 b:13254687 I have two diffrent firing order from 10 diffrent dealerships I don't know which is the right one please HELP.

lamboman12345,

On EDIS, the spark plug wiring to the coils can vary, because of the wasted spark nature. Any two wires on the same coil can be swapped without problems, leading to a large number of potentially correct wirings.

I have recently added some info on sorting the spark plug wiring to the coils to the EDIS docs here: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/EDIS.htm (scroll down to the 'Spark Plug Wiring' section).

Lance.
