Does anyone have a base tune for 5.0 ford?

:RTFM: I am running MSII V3 on a small block ford. I have it running with tfi. it will idle and kind of drive. I would like to find a base tune to have a decent starting point. I am new to Megasquirt and feeling overwhelmed. I switched from a factory eec IV computer and am starting to think it was a mistake. Just looking for a tune that would be close to the factory setup.

57piper,

The only good solutions to that are to read as much as possible (and re-read), as well as ask questions when what you read doesn't make sense. Most people have to go through it a few times before it starts to become clear.

It could have been. The reason to go with any aftermarket ECU is because you have modified the engine enough that the factory ECU no longer works well and you need to tune you engine. If you don't want to tune, then no programmable ECU is ideal.

The reason to choose MegaSquirt over another programmable ECU is because you want to learn about EFI - that's why there is so much documentation for MegaSquirt. It can certainly be overwhelming, but start at the beginning and work your way through the docs. By the second or third read you'll be more comfortable with the process of assembling, installing, and tuning MegaSquirt.

For a base map, try looking in the Ford success stories <http://www.msefi.com/viewforum.php?f=46> for 5.0 users, and email or private message them directly. Lots of users don't look in every forum on a regular basis.
