I can't communicate With my ecu

I am trying to upgrade from regular code to 029f.
Back ground, ECU=v2.2 , i don't have a stim I am trying to run Megatune 2.25 I then downloaded firmware 029f, and tried the boot jumper, and download step.. It always says failed expected response " then it says recieved "". So if i have something messed up in my setup of Mtune, or have the wrong one would this be causing my problem? BTW I checked the voltage, to the ECU, and it was just above 12v . Also how would i "Flash" my ecu? At this point i'd be happy to see it run on original code, with an 8x8 ve map.
