I was just checking a datalog and I notice that afterstart enrichment does not come on after I started an already warm engine.
Is this correct or should ASE happen regardless of engine temp? I have 30% @175 cycles and I see no ASE at all when I started my engine.

If I remember ASE is only active if warmup is greater than 100.

I ran into this wile tuning the jetski. I needed 0 choke after the first start of the day but I needed 10% ASE for every start for a few sec. My motor fully warm has water temps of about 140F max. The work around was I run warmup of 101% at all water temps except at -40 deg. There I have 110% I have a relay and a switch on the handlebars that kills the water temp wire. That way I can get 10% added fuel on the fly at any time.

How's that for an overkill answer. If you have nothing but lemons then make lemonade.

'beast, I tried to set my full warmup temp to 101% but Megatune won't let it be set at anything other than 100%, I couldn't find anything in the .ini file either. Your idea could solve my biggest problem if I could get it to work. My car is nearly impossible to start warm because of the lack of Afterstart Enrichment.

Assuming you are running a fairly late version of Extra, there is a option under one of the fuel options that is First Start of the Day. Set it to say 30. Now turn on the ignition, wait 3 sec, pump the throttle to the floor three times and start the motor. This only effects the cranking PW and reset as sone as the motor excedes the cranking RPM. Try it.

Argh. I'm running MSII. Do you have any ideas to get some kind of ASE when warm? I'll do anything, I have to because the car just can't be started reliably when warm and I've adjusted my driving habits around never having to start it warm. I've been adjusting ASE numbers like a fool, thinking it was just a matter of findind the right mix. sigh.

Have you tried changing your Cranking PW @ 170 number to a higher one?

Yes, that's the only way to get it started. I have it set to 6.0ms which gives it enough to possibly survive the drop in PW once started. It's risky because if it doesn't start the first time there's a chance of flooding or plug fouling. I'm surprised nobody else seems to have this problem if there's no ASE when warm.

Go look through the beta forum for a link to the beta code, and load the 2.66 code. This has user settable hot-start parameters under 'Other Fuel Settings'. (The 2.54 code may have it as well, I'm not sure off the top of my head...)

However, most hot start problems come from too much fuel, rather than not enough. For example, if you tune your engine hot start cranking pulse width in the driveway with the hood up, it will almost certainly be too long for when you come flyineg in off the highway and stop for gas. So go easy on the hot start enrichments.

With the increased crank PW, though, you seem like a good candidte for the adjustable hot start ASE.

I just checked, the 2.54 code for MS-II should have the user-settable hot start ASE as well.
