MS-II with EDIS ignition only

Post by RdSnake »

I am currently running carbs and wondering if I could go ahead and start wiring up my MS-II with EDIS and run ignition only for now. Will eventually run fuel injection with my MS-II and EDIS.

RdSnake,

Yes, there's no reason you couldn't do this. Just don't hook anything to the injector drivers (no fault codes, etc., will be set in MegaSquirt).

In fact, doing it this way simplifies things since you can assume your fuelling is good until you get the ignition sorted, then you can add fuel control and get that sorted knowing the ignition is good.

The only thing to be aware of with this approach is that there will be some restriction caused by the carby and the full load timing might be a touch advanced when you switch over to injection (multi-point, anyway). Other than that it'll work fine.

I ran only EDIS w/MS2 while I was sorting out my injectors.

I just left the MS2 injector harnass unplugged, and she ran fine.
The MS believes it's firing the injectors, but it doesn't know better.
Just make sure you cap off the unused wires when you're running ignition only.
