supercharged BBC, V 3.0, IDLE PROBLEMS!!!

Post by breathial »

I have a 6-71 supercharger on top of a 427 BBC. 4 150# injectors mounted inside an Enderle bug-catcher scoop. TPS is linked to it mechanically, I have MAP and IAT sensors installed as well. V 3.0, using megatune 2.25B.

I have to set start priming pulse at double, 25ms, and REQ FUEL at 10ms (theoretical, by the calculator, is only 4.8 ms). The injectors are set in alternating, 2 injections per engine cycle.

The engine seems to be starving for fuel. I can get it to fire up with the prime shot (double shots of 20ms or less aren't enough), and then the engine will stagger and sputter, sometimes reaching about 2000 RPM, before it finally quits.

A lot of backfiring, and erratic behavior. Vacuum readings read around 50.

There were some vacuum leaks, but they're corrected now. One of the butterflies is sealed off, so I'm only running on two. I've tried TPS and MAP-dot configurations, nothing seems to help.

Wasn't able to keep the engine running long enough, to get any meaningful datalogging, but I'll go back next weekend, to see what I can come up with. But for now....? Scratching my head, wondering what I'm missing...? :RTFM:

Warmup wizard settings are up to 180% at 60, 80F, 150% at 100 and 130F, and 100% at 160F)... They help, and the engine has been able to run (though very roughly) up to about 30 seconds at a time... The fuel REQ is already maxxed out...

What do I do from here? Any ideas???

Try upping the VE table entries, 30 seconds is normally the length of ASE so it seems after this enrichment has ended the mixture`s too lean? 25ms of priming puls on 150# injectors is a fair amout of fuel!

I know a supercharged engine (with carbs) needs about 25-30% more fuel.... you think I should boost my VE tables by an equal amount, and see what happens...?

It's ALIVE!!! ((barely)) Reset issues now...

Post by breathial »

Hey, all...

Got it up and running this weekend- I multiplied the VE map by 1.4, and suddenly it's running...

Bought the LC-1 controller, wanted to hook up to the LSU4.2 sensor, and discovered the sensor I bought six months ago has a square plug, this controller has an oval plug... So, on a side note, does anyone know where I can score a pigtail for this, instead of having to buy another sensor???

OK, attached are the latest program file for the engine, as well as a couple of datalogs. The computer appears to run for about 15 seconds before it resets. Can't get the idle really dialed in, because of this.

The grounds are all on the engine block. The only "hot" wire I could get (with my "painless" wiring harness that has become a serious pain in my backside) is the hot lead to the coil wire. So I tied the MS into that, and now I'm wondering if THIS is what is causing my problems... Any thoughts?

The good news is, my Enderle bugcatcher setup (with injectors hidden inside) seems a viable setup, and it seems that once I have the O2 sensor hooked up, along with the reset issues resolved, the car will be ready to drive!!! :D

So, my MS is a V3.0, with MS-n-SE, Megatune 2.25b (fuel only). All input is welcome!

There are at least two issues going on here. The mtor should not be looking for this much fuel. Look for dirt in the filters including the tiny ones on the top of the injectors. Also your AE settings are upside down
