MS-1 fuel only w/ noisy tach signal, what can I do?

Post by newstylecustoms »

I am using MS-1 w EDIS mods not being used, ignition is a durspark system with a Jacob's Omnipak. I still have a horrible tach spike problem so it just won't run well at all. I have the tach lead from the Omnipak shielded and that doesn't seem to help. The Omnipak may be the problem since it is a coil and electronics in one box so it may not be possible to get a clean signal from it. Is there anything I can do to clean up the signal electronically?

I am thinking of trying a TFI setup, any thoughts or suggestions?

newstylecustoms,

You didn't tell us what main board version you have, but it is typical for EDIS use to remove the Dave cap. The Dave caps hels a lot to eliminate spike when triggering off the coil (which you may be doing).

For a V2.2 board, see step #2 here: http://www.megasquirt.info/v22manual/mwire.htm#ignition

For a V3 main board, make sure C30 is installed.

It is version 2.2. Thanks for the assistance, I don't know how I missed that section when reading the manual.
