Rev Limit / spark retard

I was surprised the other day when I was able to rev the V8 all the way to 6000 rpm when I had set the Lower Rev limit to 5400 and Upper rev limit to 5500 with "Max Retard" on 10.

Studying the log showed that timing is reduced BY 10 deg (from 36 down to 26) which is why not much happened.

So I thought, well obviously I must just increase the "MAx retard" figure to 30 or so but then MT2.25 came up with a message saying that a max of 13 was allowed? :?

Why can't I enter larger figures (which would be more effective in limiting revs)?

Kind regards
Philip

Retard alone is rarely enough to act as a rev limiter. For a decent limit you need spark cut (which is not easily achieved with EDIS.)

Is it possible to do reliably with EDIS James?

I've always assumed not but if there is a way I'd love to try it..

I use fuel cut. Seems to be the better option.

is the fuel cut rev limiter built in?

Tebriel,
You can set the parameters to whatever you wish.
It is built-in to the code.
Under GENERAL SETTINGS you can choose Spark Retard, Fuel Cut or none.Image
