MSII V3 Build Questions

Just got the box I was waiting for.
BTW-Orderd from DIYAutoTune, great service, great packaging.
It was probably available but I didn't see the sockets or Q4 option for PWM IAC valve.
Anyway:
Question 1:
Step 22 on the V3 assembly instructions:
I am planning to use a PWM IAC as mentioned above. But if I change later to a Stepper Motor type, will I have access to the jumper locations?
Will it be ok to install the jumpers now to get signals to DB37?
I know there are other mods involved to get back to stepper motor capability.

Question 2:
In building a wiring harness. What gage wire is recommended?
Current under the hood instruments appear to be about 18g.
I can't see getting the DB37 loaded up with 18g wires, and DB37 appears to be something less than 18g itself.

PS; Having a great time with this project. The Stimulator is completed.
Going to the "Shack" to get some IC sockets.

Hi there,

I recently built my v3 board, and I went the stepper IAC route. I think if you were to switch from PWM to stepper at a later date, you could just desolder the PWM components and put on the stepper components. Shouldn't be a big deal.

For question #2, I would use 20 gauge for sensors, and 18 gauge for things like injectors. Fuel pump circuit will of course have to take a larger wire. If possible, try and get wire with insulation on it that is rated for engine compartment temps. I was able to get an engine harness in decent condition that I stripped down and used to make my own harness. That way I had the right wire type.

Personally I bought the MS2 harness from Jerry. All of his wires are 18AWG by the look of them and the tach input is even a nice shielded wire. Saves a helluva-lot-of-time!!!

I also bought the harness from "Jerry" (If this is the same Jerry as at DIYAUTO.com).  In my case NOT all the wires were of the same gauge, in particular the FI wires were much thicker.  Would certainly recommend this route if installation time is an issue.  Its also nice to have colours which match the documentation.

Kind regards

Yep you're right. I just had another look at mine tonight and noticed the fatter injector wires & GND wire.
