ms2 v3, TFI problems..

I'm attemping to get my MSII sitting along side my Ford EEC-IV in my australian ford (doubt that makes a difference) reading sensors but not controlling ignition SPOUT or injector banks...
I have my IAC, CLT, TPS and oxygen sensor lines split.. obvioulsy vref isnt hooked up as it gets it from the ford EEC IV...
Everythings fine until i want the MSII to read the PIP signal from the TFI.. if i share the PIP signal between the 2 the MSII reads the PIP signal fine but seems to load down the signal and the Ford EEC-IV loses the signal and runs in Limp home mode.
I've got a transistor hooked up which switches +12V to the MSII from the PIP signal.. N5555 or something, it was a while ago..
For a while it seemed to work but (both ecus read it fine) but i've noticed that when i hook it all up the car again falls into limp home mode... but the MSII still reads the signal from the transistor fine..
Now my question...
Does anyone know whats going on or how I can get around this??
