supercharged w/ms, need some help

Post by dsr30 »

i'm going to be installing ms v2.2 onto my sc'd car soon and will be using a wbo2 for tuning and will have the stock nbo2 on after tuning. should i have ms disable the ego feedback via map reading or tps? the sc that i'm using is a clutched eaton, so sometimes i'll be driving totally n/a and then i might just turn the sc on and i thought the map setting would be better since my boost pressure will have no relation to throttle postion.

r there any other areas that i should pay attention to with a sc as opposed to a turbocharger?

I'd be interested in hearing people's input about this as well. :RTFM:

As you said, you can't use TPS because boost is based on RPM in a SC setup.

I could see if the thread starter was going to have a WBO2 all the time to just use the target AFR table and leave it closed loop at all times, but since they're using an NBO2, what would people suggest?

I go open loop at 80kpa, personnally I wouldn`t trust a boosted engine to target AFR maps, if the sensor fails under boost then you`ve probably lost the engine (but if you end up running narrowband that`s a mute point).

You want to be richening up after 80-90kpa.

Thing with a s/c is you should get instant boost at any rpm when you floor it ( I see 12psi at 2000rpm), so you need to tune the upper parts of the VE table accordingly.

I have my WB set to be on in boost for autotune, it works really well high or low. Obviously, I turn it off when I do not have the laptop in the car, and only have correction under 90kPa. Also, you can set the failure voltage on the LC-1, so set it lean and MS will go richer when it fails. Failing that, a real weak pullup resistor on O2 would work, but that would mess up the signal.

The general rule for boost, turbo or super, is that you must retard timing and go rich, like 11-12.5:1. I noticed people with miatea do different things with the two, but that is likely due to higher supercharger intake temps. Speaking of wich, make sure your IAT is after the blower.

thanks for the replies. didn't know i got any since i wasn't notified. i installed ms last weekend and have 1 prob, which i've posted in the msns-e section. apart from that prob everything went smoothly. i've set ms to go to open loop at 80kpa. i'm not running spark yet but will and have a very conservative timing map.
