Boosting 14 psi for first time!

WEll where to start!!! today at work we were trying to play with some new concept about volumetric discharging of some product at like a pound an hour or something, i could care less all i do at work all day is sit on my bum and read the fourms
hehe....
these guys had a normal presure regulator used on air compressors, now i know in past people used these as a cheap poor mans way of a manual boost controller, i always thought it was a lame way to get more boost!!! ...
well me being lazy and not wanting to swap wastegate springs i went down local hardware store and bought a 20 doller presure regulator... then cut my wastegate vacume hose, installed it and grab my laptop to go on a little drive... hehe
the first few runs i had to play with it to make sure i didnt over boost .... but the second i adjusted it just right and floored it, i was stuned!!!! i toped out at almost 15psi !!!!! now that was a rush i thought all hell was going break loose!!!! now little side note my stock spring is rated at 4 psi! so going from a little boost to a lot was a wild trip..... this is my first turbo car i ever owned or droven.... so it was fun for most part!...
after looking over the datalogs everything seemed good!.... my AFR was steady at 12 ish, then i looked at my timing and notice i was pretty much in the teen's when boosting that high, which aint bad, but with my air intake temps being 80 degrees (50 ambiant) i figure well im not going knock if i pull back some! so i did 3 degrees advance thought out the boost region and did another run, WOW car pulled even more so like i had ton more power out no where with same boost..... when doing 195 some KPA i was doing 20 ish advance.... im thinking pulling it back some more to see if i can get little more power out!!! ..
looking over other peoples spark maps , i have mine set so no matter what rpm range ur in, the advance is constant through out the boost, so im thinking of pulling it back more where theres less boost/rpm to see if i can get little more juice!!! hehe
i know this probley seems a little off topic
but for last year or two dreaming of finaly utiliazing the megasquirt for its purpose! and finaly building up a car that was a sleeping monster! this was surely a first step to world of tuning .... it was a blast the entire trip!
thanks to everyone!
i hope this inspires people to keep on trucking! and dont give up because of silly problems, ive had my share the hole time, lucky i figured them out for my self
