help with idle tuning again

Post by xr3iturbo »

right thought abou it it last night
i have zetec 1800 with t3 turbo

i am using another zetec msq etc to get starting point .....
first- the std zetec comp ratio is 10.1.1(idle adv of 10deg)

i am now running 8.1.1 to suit my turbo,am i right that saying that with lower comp ratio ishould advance my spark(i think perhaps 13-15 spark adv)

what do yous guys think

also this would make my idle up and down to,would it not > :D

i think dump the standard ve table you have and generate one using table generator. you'd have to estimate max power and torque and at which points.

just give it a try. it worked wonders for me.

Idle advance isn't terribly important, really. A lot of modern ECU's use it to control the idle speed.
10btdc ought to work, or 15.

I would NOT use that n/a zetec ignition map for boost though, thats asking for disaster.

thats what I thought, until i got proper ve map.

idling advance should work between 10* and 20*, shouldnt do much difference tho.

ok just made a ve table from the generator, looks good car idles nice when up to temp, but stunbles when i punch the pedal,i put in max torque at 300 rpm reason being when turbo fully spools up,the table dose look alot better,so i took it for a few slow drives with no boost, seems like it holding righ back about 2k,So no more tuning till i have my w/band a/f/m

any thoughts on this 1 guys

and thanks alot with help so far

thats exacly what mine does. I havent drive my car yet, but most likely i'll take it for a slow spin tonite.

now you have to play with accel enrichment. it might be too high or too low, so you just have to experiment.

i got my wbo2 last night, hopefully i cna weld it it toomorow :)

I didnt drive it yet :(

had major issues with TPS and after mucking around with it for several hours last night, at 10pm i found the issue. Stock engine harness cabling (the plug end) was faulty. Once resoldered everything went back to normal. I'll update as I progress.
