Indrek,

I have just loaded 3.83, and I can't get stable tach anymore, nothing has changed on the hardware it must be a default setting in 3.83 vs 3.76.
The only thing I have noticed is the drill speed is showing as 383-0-383-0-383 rpms in TunerStudio, because it keeps dropping zero now.
I have checked my settings and they are the same as 3.7, which I was using previously.

The interesting thing is the drill is doing nearer 400 rpm and the revs aren't doubled like 3.76, so maybe there is something in what you are observing, although mine isn't a true test because I haven't got stable tach/sync etc :(

I look at it again tomorrow and try and solve my tach errors... :x

Mike

PS Perhaps you could load 3.76 and see if there are changes.

UPDATE Changing Ignition Input Capture to Falling Edge from Rising Edge has cured the sync error, as can hand wind and get 65 rpms showing consistently with no zeros now!
I checked my 3.76 settings, and they gave stable tach with no resets using Rising Edge, but 3.83 needs Falling Edge with the same hardware... :?

Indrek,

Just fired up the rig using the cordless drill, max revs 0-440 in 1st speed...3.83 firmware showing 375 & 414 rpms, for CW & CCW rotation in Tunerstudio, whereas 3.76 firmware was recording 800+ RPMs.

Hope this helps, but any chance anybody else can test this?

Mike

Mike,

Thank you!
I can confirm that V3.83 have a bug in firmware code.
I loaded V3.76 and engine speed is ok now (input ~1000 RPM, in tunerstudio ~2000 RPM) :)
Settings: Dual/Multi Spark Options are "Single Cam Wheel Input" and in Advanced Ignition Options Trigger Wheel Teeth = 24, Missing Teeth = 1, and Cam teeth = 0.

Later I'm going to test V3.780 also.

If V3.770, V3.780 also work, which one to choose?

Yes, camshaft trigger have lower precision, but wheel with 24 teeth is much better than original single teeth wheel. My bike is not for racing, so I think it is good enough.

Indrek,

I tried 3.82, and I kept getting a firmware glitch in the default project file, didn't happen with 3.83 flash.

Also tried 2.920, and this behaved even stranger, 400 rpm on the drill being reported as 200 in Tunerstudio, didn't matter what I set the Ignition Capture as!!

Mike,

I tested v3.770 and v3.780. These also show bad speed in tunerstudio.

Is this v3.830a final firmware or some day a newer version will be released?

Hi again Indrek,
3.830 is the current release, I've asked the question on your (our) behalf to Al aka Grippo, so I'm hoping there is a fix.
I think Al will check it out and get back to us soon.
I'm also wondering whether it might be a TunerStudio issue though, maybe I should check with Phil?

Thanks for your help with this
Mike

PS I realise this is a no no for the MicroSquirt B&G forum, but I have used MS Extra firmware and had no issues re rpm detected, once I selected the Cam Trigger option

Hi Mike,

I'm hoping too that there is a fix coming.

There is a small chance that tunerstudio send some wrong configuration parameters to the ECU when single cam wheel is selected.

I have tried MS extra firmware also, but I didn't find suitable configuration for my bike.

As Mike notes, detailed instructions should be discussed on the Extra forum (or PM), but you can use a 24-1 single cam wheel with the Extra code.

Indrek,

I'm still hoping one of the gurus will see this thread & double check your findings. I'll PM Phil to see if he can check the TunerStudio side.

Mike
PS There's no reason why it cannot work for your set up, it's under Ignition Options/Wheel Decoder. Settings would be Toothed Wheel, 24-1 in the set up, with Wheel Speed = Cam Wheel. It works for me with a cased v2 MicroSquirt loaded with the latest stable release, showing double the drill rpms in TunerStudio.

Indrek,

Just an update, I was searching for something else and came across this...

It looks like I had a RPM issue about 8 months ago, and I had selected the wrong option, I needed to use "Dual Inputs Timing from 1 cam tooth".
This is a little further down in the wheel settings/configuration, and so the last bit "Timing from 1 cam tooth" telling the ECU that it is a cam speed based wheel.
No wonder we didn't get an answer, maybe Al thinks its been answered.

I am just wondering whether what you're doing, and I was testing was "allowed for. :?
Mike
PS Just been going through my v2 cased MicroSquirts, just loading different firmwares, creating a new project in TunerStudio, and the single cam wheel input in 3.43 shows the correct RPM in TS, but not in 3.83 which is half speed.
PPS will edit this with msqs, when I upload from bench laptop.
