I think you just made my day. But this is the first I've heard of this and I can't' find any information about using the MAP signal for a cam sync. Can you point me to some documentation on how to set this up?
Thanks!

It is during the crank tooth gap, as I understand it. The manual reiterates this several times for "dual spark" modes.
You've read the bit about "tying" IGN1 & IGN2 to get a sequential or wasted ignition event?

Right. I think my confusion is in part due to the "dual spark" mode. Is this mode primarily for V-twin engines?
So, the microsquirt documentation wants the cam signal to happen during the crank's missing tooth location (at least in dual spark mode?).
The Extra code documentation states the exact opposite:
http://msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/MS2-Extra_Dual.htm
With a missing-tooth main wheel, the missing tooth provides the main position reference to the Megasquirt. The cam signal should occur away (not co-incident with) the missing tooth, the exact angle is irrelevant, so long as they NEVER overlap.
The more I read, the more confusing this becomes!

Hi bpsims
MSExtra is different to B&G "Dual Spark"...they are two different firmwares that can run on the same hardware. If you are planning on using one, then you have to meet the conditions that are relevant. "Dual spark" is not just for V twins.
Mike
PS The MAP signal syncing than dontz125 refers to is an MSExtra add on. It is what some KTMs use.

Got it. Thanks for the info. I'd like the option of trying different firmwares but it looks like this cam sensor location will lock me into one or the other.

Hi again
Obviously the cam sensor location will be fixed to work with one of the firmwares, but you could build flexibility in the missing tooth portion of the crank trigger, by moving the crank sensor or rejigging the wheel.
I've used both firmwares, which is why I get confused too

However, if you want help with MSExtra you will have to post on their dedicated forum, as the forum rules state.

This is on a tiny 250cc engine... Getting the trigger wheel squeezed inside the case and the sensor took a small miracle. There isn't going to be much re-configuring going on in the future if I can help it. lol.

The manual is being updated, and this feature is pretty new. I can give more details over on the Extra forum. Like Mike said, we'll get scolded otherwise ...

Thanks, dontz125. I just arrived to the Dark Side tonight with much success! And I don't have to drill a hole in my valve cover!
