Thanks for the info 800vtwin. The idea of using the wideband more as a tool is intriuging. I understand using someone else's table would only be a starting point to get the bike running.
24c or anyone: What is the price difference approximately? What is this controller for a wideband O2 sensor you mentioned? I have a Microsquirt.

Check out DIY autotune (.com) They sell an inovative LC1 kit (industry standard) for about $200.
The LC1 is used with a laptop and/ or directly into microsquirt. There is also an LM1 / LM2 that are hand held units.

You can also use the TechEdge WideBand controller, which is Australian, and comes in various forms. I bought a TechEdge 2J1, which has gone on the dyno now, but I also have an LM1 (that I will use on the road to datalog/tune my MicroSquirt tables). The newer and more expensive Innovate LM2 looks good too.
Re costs, a generic narrowband sensor in the UK is around £20, whereas the wideband Bosch is three times that, and you have to factor in the cost of the controller. Over here a TechEdge with sensor is slightly cheaper than the Innovate LC1 at around £150, but there are some cheaper "DIY" Wideband controller projects out there too, which you can build for less.

If you have an 1100cc motorcycle you likely have plenty of charging system capacity for a heated wide band sensor. I run a wide band LM-1 (now LM-2) unit on a DR650 Suzuki dualsport which has only a 200 watt stator. I've never run into any charging system capacity problems.
