The CAS should probably have 12V on the power in wire. At least it does on my Nissan optical distributor ('84 Sentra).

see im not sure that the green is the wire im lookin for kinda confused.... check out ka-t.org they have forums to and i belive some poeple got ms working on their ka's.... im sure red is power and black is ground and that is all i am sure of...kinda shitty.... msv3 is the best one to go with because pin#36 has a built in VB921...

ex.

so you hook power up to the dizzy Red wire

ground it black wire

hook white wire up to ms pin#24 (just sayin not sure but if it is the 4 slot LED)

then hook pin#36 up to neg coil

the positive coil to 12v current

then supposedly your good to go...

when i check the 89-90 Factory service manual

it showed four wires coming out of the dizzy but diff colors:
black we have: red
black/white black
green/yellow green
green/black white

it said the green/black wire goes to 180 degree LED which is the 4 slots

but still not sure if that wire translates to "green" in our case or "white"?

Actually, I don't have a green... it is a blue on mine... that or the color has changed. That one really doesn't matter though, it's the 360 slot signal. The only 3 that matter are Black, Red and White.

I don't believe Nissan would change from 12V to 5V, so I think that is a 12V power (red wire). The black is ground, and White is 4 slot signal. The only question in my mind is how the signal reads. I believe the signal square wavelength STARTS (the rising part of the square wave) at whatever the advance is on the dizzy. In my case it's 20deg BTDC, but you can change that to whatever yours is. I still have to verify this (Or if anyone else can tell me what their nissan opto wheel is...)

Has everyone else just fed that signal wire to MSEFI without any probs?

And I'm 99.9% sure that the white is the signal we're looking for (I'm also working on a 89 240sx). The only way I could be wrong is if we're looking at different dizzy's, which from what I've found there are two different types that were used, but I'm thinking that was for the KA24DE 240sx's...

hey i tried the dizzy... had it all setup but i cant make a spark... our dizzy only puts out .168 volts when LED shines through an open slot... MS needs a 5-12v... what can we do about this... and im not using the nissan ignition module just dizzy, MS, and hei coil... let me know how to fix this... i just need to pull the volts up to at least 5?

How do you have the dizzy setup right now?

12v on red? ground on black? pulling a signal off of white?

I'm not at home otherwise I'd check, but .168 sounds like what I was getting. I can't be sure until I get back to my work bench.

I did just pull the schematic on the CAS and the FSM shows it being fed power by the ECCS relay... I wonder what the rating is on that...

Keep us posted!!!

hey well MS need at least a 5 volt signal to fire... i tried using a 1kohm resisitor feeding 12v into that wire wire....but i wired the coil wrong, went to try it and blew the coil (smoking....big pop....nice) not good... order new coil...

going to try and just hook up Crane XRi sensor to some sort of pulley firing system... as in 2 pin coming out of crank pully 180 apart (as in 2 pins for whole pulley) then have the Crane hooked up somewhere to get a signal when crossing the pins on the pulley... i will have this just fire the coil, and then run a wire from the HEI coil to the ms for a signal

instead of MS getting sensor signal it will get a signal when the coil fires... but MS wont fire the coil, just sensor to coil... the MS knows to do rest...hopefully let me know what ya guys think?

You lost me on that one... what will be controlling advance? You're suggesting having a standalone ignition system?... I'm lost on what's controlling it.

I think this will help you guys out--

This is actually from my 280zx writeup but it appears the ignition systems are nearly identical. The CAS is a bit different (4 holes and unevenly sized) but it works just fine.

Let's confirm this, and what years of the 240sx it applies to, and I'll finalize this into a 240 specific writeup....

The full 280 writeup is here: http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_article ... _turbo.htm
