everything looks good except the resistor. I need a new one and am having trouble getting digikey to respond 5 ohms and 25 watts seems a bit difficult to find.

Tom,
Digi-Key has 825F5R0-ND for $4.66 each. They are 5.0 Ohms, 25 Watts, with mounting tabs.

So I put the 5 ohm resister in and now the injector does not fire. the noid light is bearly visible. True the injector isn't open all of the time, but once in a while would be nice. Too bad for this cold weather three years and still not driving. Only one summer with the mega squirt tho.
electrical problems abound

So now the main relay won't close ....no close no fuel pump no injector firing. Yes, there is power to it and if grounded it will close.
Any one have a good carb for a 1972 datsun A12 engine?
The next thing

I returned this unit to the person that did the putting together and it was noted that the injector was not firing. He is now waiting for part to repair this unit.
Oh well at least it isn't a lost cause, just a mild set back.
I will triumph.
flyback????

The builder indicated that the injector driver was shot and said that a possible cause was "flyback" I have no idea what this is please help.
Please when I get this unit back I would like it to plug and play, but the manuals are somewhat verbose. Is there a Cliff note version which I could read in less than a week? I know that there is a lot of valuable info here , but not all applies to me.
The mega tune needs some explaining like ve, and the rest of the vaguely explained items.
I don't want to sound negative, but a lot of extra words don't help. myybe just a quick run down so folks can get this going and then tune it later ?

Tom,
MegaSquirt is an educational project. You have to read, and you have to want to learn. There is no short version, because the short verion would be different for every installation. If you think the manuals are verbose, then you really don't understand all the information you need to know to install MegaSquirt.
BTW, searching for flyback failure in the manual listed the info you want as the very first link. And there is a glossary here:
http://www.megasquirt.info/v22manual/mapp.htm#gloss. And there is a table of contents here: http://
www.megasquirt.info/v22manual/mtabcon.htm. So I think you have to try a little harder.
Lance.
SO OK

I really want to get this up and running when it returns to my possession, and what if the fuel pump circuit is blown does this affect the cpu in any way shape or form?
The injector driver is shot because of flyback voltage. Could this take out other circuits in the unit?
