The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.

idle is set to pwm and i dont have a stim, but i was told the middle led is to indicate warm up (and it dose come on and turn off at certian temp-led that is) i mesured across the 2 pins and when i hold the revs up from a cold start i was getting around 10v from -fidle wire+12v,then tryd putting 12v to valve and shorted other pin to earth revs shot up but wire got very hot???.so i think the valve is working
any other options to try?????????????????????????
if the wire got hot it's bad, as that means heaps of current. MS unit will not handle all that current.
what i would try next is get few resistors....
measure the resistance across pins of your valve.
you want it to be about 50 ohm's... if it's not you will have put an appropriate resistor in series with that grounding wire. that will limit the current. as well set the stim for some low value of pwm, and work your way up when testing, not the other way around. generally you want to start with high resistance, and if you get no/low action then reduce the resistor value.
ideally you will have ammeter hooked in series with that ground wire aswell and watch the current. I'm not sure on the exact target value you want for that particular valve... but i'd imagine 0.2~0.3 A. my 3 wire bosh takes up to 0.4A per circuit, but I have separate circut to drive it, so MS is not providing any power (just signal). I'm not sure what max amperage ms2 unit will handle on pwm fast idle valve...
maby somebody can advise better.

well.. maby not a problem, but a slight complication.
at 6 ohm's you have 2A flowing throught that wire, so no , ms will not handle that.
geab a 30-40 ohm resistor and hook up between ground and earth on the valve. use ms to drive the other pin. measure current on the ground wire.
see whether valve works (current might be not enough to make it work correctly). worst case scenarion, you will have to modyfi MS to to handle appropriate current, or just build an external circuit to drive that valve (thats what I did).
just had a thought. is the outside case of the valve made of metal ? measure resistance between pins and the casing, *maybe* casing is the ground.
