dodge 420a coil on motorcycle wiring

Post by skylrk62 »

I am currently using a 420a coil off of a Dodge Neon on my yamaha motorcycle with a XJ900 engine. I am using the Latest Micosquirt system. I have the coil 12v to center pin and wired the microsquirt pins 11 & 12 to the other two pins on the 420a coil. Will this work? I tried cranking it over with one of the spark plugs out and there was no spark. I have a very limited knowledge on this, but everything else seems to be functioning except for this. I have one trigger input(vr). I see a lot of megasquirt examples, but no microsquirt? Can anyone please help me on this?

From what I've read, the 420a coil module has no internal drivers; it is a 'dumb' unit, and needs high-current drivers. As of the newest version (V3.0), the MicroSquirt no longer has internal drivers either. Attempting to drive a high-current coil directly from the uS can damage the processor!

DIY Autotune offers the 4-channel QuadSpark, and I've started making a Dual-Channel Coil Driver.
