LSx Coil Wiring

Post by McMark »

Couldn't find the answer to this in the search. I've seen a couple variations on LS1/LS2 coil wiring, where the signal ground (Pin B) is either wired to the engine block or to the 'sequencer'. I'm trying to eliminate any possible noise issues and am wondering if this wire is better connected to a mounting bolt at the coil (with Pin A) or wired back to the ecu and attached to a sensor ground (pin 18/20/21)? Any tips?

Wire signal ground to the sensor return.

McMark,

The old diagrams show the ground going back to MicroSquirt, the new ones show the ground going to the block (http://www.useasydocs.com/details/coils.htm#ls1). Bruce found in extended dyno testing/troubleshooting that the grounds work much better if they went to the block, and the manual was updated to match that finding.
