If you can fit an 8-tooth wheel from another year, cutting one tooth off of that would probably be your best bet. The other option might be to use the wheel you have now with Matt_GSXR's "long tooth" patch to the MS2/Extra code; an adaptor circuit is needed. The code patch is here and the circuit can be found here; I don't know if the patch can be ported to the uS code - probably, but by someone a lot more code-savvy than I ...
Cutting off the long tooth of your current wheel would leave you with a 4-1 trigger wheel. This is the minimum for a 4-cyl, but it's a pretty thin minimum, especially for a high-revving powerhouse like yours. Trimming the long tooth back to a short tooth will leave you with a 4-0 wheel that won't actually provide enough info to the uS to accomplish anything. Unless you add a cam position sensor ...

#13 in diagram (curtsy of bike bandit) is the trigger wheel of the 02.

Like Matt says, you can go with an 8-0/1, or you can trim off a tooth for 8-1. You can do both - 8-1/1!
