difficulty with microsquirt v3 ignition input

Post by joeschuit »

Alright, I'm starting out with the microsquirt v3 with the 3.78 software. I'm trying to get a signal from the negative on the coil with a points type ignition. Backing up a bit, when I first got the unit I planned on using ls2 coils and having the squirt control the spark. I used vr1 and vr2 when using the ls2 coils and got a reliable signal. I then decided to switch back to normal coils and had the optin+ to the coil and optin-. Of course this worked for a few minutes of cranking, and now I've got nothing. After doing some research I found that the r20 resistor can be burned out, and sure enough, it was. I replaced that with the correct? 10k 1/4w resistor in its place and I've still got no signal. If its any consolation, I can touch the vr1 input with my hand and the rpm jumps up to 1800 and also triggers my injectors. All the other sensors are working correctly. Is there any testing I can do on the board to see if I've blown something other than the r20 resistor? I have found more information regarding triggering off the coil and how hard it is on the input circuits. If I can regain a trigger again, I plan on setting it up from the pic below to make it easier on the input: Thanks for any information, Joe
