EDIS and tach output

Post by anonymous.shyster »

Hi,

I'm in the middle of wiring my uS and I'm wondering what is the correct way to get my tachometer to work. Initially my car had a GT40 Bosch coil and points ignition (4 cylinder engine). I've noticed that pin 35 is tach output but reading the EDIS page it hints that pin #2 of the EDIS module is for the tachometer output but this may not work on cars with only one coil, in which case I should use two diodes and a signal from both coils. Which is the correct way for me? I'm guessing the latter, but I do want to confirm.

Thanks.

The MicroSquirt module and the EDIS module both send a low current 12 volt square wave signal.

Does that mean that pin 35 will be sufficient to drive my tachometer?

It means that if pin 35 can drive your tach, the EDIS module probably can too. And if the EDIS module can't drive your tach, pin 35 probably won't either.
