cannot communicate with PC, port test fail

Post by sindarusco »

hi, I have a microsquirt and I am using it drive an injector for the spray analysis (sensors are replaced with potentiometers). the set up works fine before. however, now it cannot communicate with the computer (i did not change anything after the last time when it works normally).

the port test in megatune always gives no response, when I use tunerstudio, it can detect something at the port (COM1), but when I load the ini file and do the port test. it says fail. the port checker says there is 1 valid port. i have DB9 port on the PC, so there should be no USB adapter issue. except the fail connection with computer, the microsquirt works fine on driving the injector. I am really confusing about what should I do. here is some screen shot, hope they are helpful.

thank you very much

Have you enabled the Boot Jumper?

I have just upgraded an older cased MicroSquirt successfully from 2.886 to 2.891

Code: Select all

MegaSquirt Download 2.00

Reading C:/Documents and Settings/Mike Crane/My Documents/Monitor_v2.891.abs.s19:

BUT if you don't have the boot jumper loaded you will see this response...

...which looks just like your message (middle picture). Hope this helps :)

hm~ i think the bootloader pin is grounded when I try to upgrade the code (the bootloader is ground to the sensor ground right?).

before these issues appears, when microsquirt works nice. I remember the detected code version is 2.886 too. do you still remember which version of .ini file are you using when your code is 2.886? I use the 2.8 one and hope that wont do something wrong. I remember the manual said before 2.889, they using the same 2.x file..

thank you very much :)

I hold mine to the battery negative or ground, _not_ the sensor ground.

the voltage between Vref and sensor ground is 4.95V, stable.

when I launch the megatune, it shows something like this.

That message in MegaTune looks more like the wrong COM port than a problem with the MicroSquirt.

is it possible that it is the cable's fault? the 2.5mm stereo - DB9 one?

thanks

I've seen a couple defective cables, particularly if yours doesn't have the 1 piece molded DB9 housing.
