No/curious triggering of injectors

Post by Super_7 »

Hi!

As per manual I should not spend more than 15 minutes to get my engine running, but after I spent weeks I decided to post my problem before I get mad!

My configuration:

Standard Ford Zetec 1.8L 115PS, Ford-EDIS-module, small air intake manifold, original Ford Mondeo fuel injection system, Microsquirt code 2.890 and Megatune 2.25.
Everything wired, Sensors calibrated, ignition spark is running, prime-pulse during switching ignition is available! (To show it I use a LED)
Setting: 4 Cylinder, 4 Injectors, 2 Squirts, Simultaneous)

Problem:
During cranking (MT shows "Cranking") the injectors (high impedanc) are only triggered (by a VERY short impulse compared to the usual when I use the original Ford ECU) when I open the throttle nearly to maximum. (TPS is calibrated correctly!)
So overall the engine does not get any fuel and does not even try to start.

Logfile says:
- RPM between 0 and 138
- As long as the RPM is between 0 and 3 PW is 4.3
- Above RPM 3 PW is 0
- Opening Throttle > 70 PW is 0.3

What's already double and triple-checked:

- Input voltage(s) are available before and during the cranking process
- Wiring of injectors is ok. Injector test-mode is running without any problems. Prime-pulse is available
- Fuel is calculated automatically by around 17 Liters. Rather too much than too less...
- oxygen sensor disabled

I'm open for any ideas how to proceed...

I saw that somebody posted the same problem years ago and solved it by switching to an older (!) code. Would this make sense?

Thanks,
Roland

I think you should post your msq and a datalog of your starting attempt. I suspect you do not have the trigger wheel set up correctly.

This looks like a firmware corruption issue. Try reloading the code and copying your settings over by hand instead of reloading the old MSQ.

I think so. Is coolant in C?
I noticed it's only 9 degrees and IAT is -31 degrees

2 things to emember:

-The cranking pulsewidths are set independantly of the VE table.
-tps above 70-75% (settable) activates clear flood mode (fuel cut) during cranking.

all that stuff is grayed out; I don't know MSII software enough to remember why this happens, but it is grayed out.

Hi!

Thanks for the answers.

It's 9 degrees in my garage actually! ;-)
I will check what's wrong around the IAT-sensor.

Furthermore I will reload the cody and generate a new .msq by taking over all relevant data manually.

I will report on this during next weekend!

He's using 2 point mode instead of tables.

Man, it's been a while
2 point mode works for Cranking & ASE?

It applies to the priming pulse, cranking pulse, and ASE.
