195s,

The incorrect INI file will usually give a warning dialog in MegaTune that says the "received" code signature does not match the expect "expected" signature. INIs are used with to download code in any way, anyhow. However, the code and INIs are here: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/code.htm and also see: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/downl2.htm Make sure the bootloader wire is grounded when powering up before trying to load code (this is the equivalent of putting the bootloader jumper on MS-II).

To me, this sounds like it might a problem with communications, so you might want to check: http://www.megamanual.com/connect.htm

Lance.

Thanks Lance i will give all that a try tonight. Do you think it would better to use a PCMCIA to serial vs a USB to serial adapter.

I'd try checking the serial cable for continuity at this point.

Well after weeks of pulling my hair out trying establish communications with my Microsquirt I finally contacted the guys at DIY Autotune where I purchased the unit from.
Justin was very paitent with me and tried to walk me thru some trouble shooting but still nothing. So on his advice I boxed it up and sent it back to them. After just 2 days Justin wrote me back
saying the comm chip was bad and they had never seen that before (just my luck). They upgraded my board to a v2.0 and shipped it back to me free of charge. I cant say anough about their service and how they handled
my situation. Thanks DIY Autotune.

Hi
I am posting here because I have a V2 board, and had no issues re comms todate. The other day whilst do cranking tests, and switching between TachRef and "a run code.s19", using MS Download 2.00 I got this error.

Reading C:/Documents and Settings/Mike Crane/Desktop/Monitor_v2.888a.abs.s19:
Detected MS-II (HCS12) code.
Entry point: 0x0000
Code range : 0x4000-0x3db3e0
File read successfully.

Opened comm port 4 at 115200.
ERROR: Unknown error status response, e=0xEF
Elapsed time: 0.17 seconds

I don't seem to be able to communicate with the MicroSquirt. I have about 13.2V on the battery, 5.13V on the VRef and I have always had the bootload wire tied to 5V, or ground when loading code.
I am using the same USBSerial adaptor, and the LED faintly flickers, but will not flash/illuminate like before :?
Is there any checks I can do? Nothing smells funny, I have checked the polyfuses and they are OK. I have visually looked over the pcb with a magnifying glass, and nothing looks untoward. I have even used an infrared thermometer and the only area that is slightly warmer is the area around the voltage regulator L53B & another marked S27BA, but it is only 7 dec C above ambient.

Any suggestions please?

PS Another error message.
