Ignition Advance not changing with MAP sensor readings

Post by 1979-mini »

Does anyone know why, my ignition advance is only being calculated from the topmost row in the advance table? The little green highlighted bar moves right and left when RPM changes, but it doesn't move up and down with the MAP changes. As a result, I am getting the advance curve for 20kPa all the time.

I am only running uSquirt for ignition at this time, so no fuel, but does it really matter?

I also confirmed this with the Megalog viewer. When reviewing my data, in the Tuning Console's Advance Table, the little pointer only moves back and forth with RPM, in the 100kPa row. Even as MAP changes, the pointer stays on the bottom of the chart. But the actual advance is what is shown on the 20kPa row.

The actual Advance reading doesn't match where the pointer is on the chart either, when the car is running with the advance table shown in Megatune. The Advance reading seems to correspond to the position at the 20Kpa row. When reviewing the raw data, the individual MAP reading is changing, but it isn't reflected in the Advance table in Megatune.

Is this a glitch in uSquirt or Megatune? The car runs ok but is not where it should be due to the ''glitch''

Thanks.

Could you post a data log of this and a copy of your MSQ file?

I agree an msq would be most useful. Have you checked your timing with a timing light and varied the rpm enough to get the map to go in another bin, for example by putting it into gear if it's an automatic. If this is real, and I'm guessing it is, then the ignition configuration may be the problem. So as Matt said, an msq and short datalog would be useful.

Here are the msq and a sample datalog file.

I hope this helps.

I checked out your msq on the bench and found your problem: you entered your spark maps from 90 kPa to 20 kPa. You must enter them in ascending order: 20 kPa to 90 kPa. You did it correctly for the fuel maps.

I thought that was the problem too, and I reentered them already once, but the ignition map just reverted back to the way it looks.

However, I will try one more time creating the vex file from scratch. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks.

That did it. It's working like it should right now. Thanks for the help. Keep up the great work.
