Suggestions on injectors for 1000HP

Post by COLAUTO »

I m going for it. I bought 2 T61 turbonetics turbos and a new v3 msII. Im looking at Autonomics for wiring harness. I realize that means about 95lbs/hr injectors but the ones I have found have 2 ohms resistance. With 24 amps on each fet. I built the v3 with all the options What kind of problems am I going to have with this load? Or does anyone know of a high flow injector that is high impedance?

As a general rule of thumb, all "new" injectors (that is, a new design not a new OEM part) will be low impedance. This allows for PWM to be used and that's the preferred method for current limiting.

You might consider a two-stage injection scheme with MS&S-E... then you can use low-impedance 50lb injectors and have a better chance at a reasonable idle, and more headroom if you go any bigger.

Also, I'm not certain that MSII will do the boost-related stuff that MS&S-E will. Things like spark/fuel cut rev limiting and overboost protection.

COLAUTO, Brian,

I have run 72 lb/hour injectors on my 406 chevy with MS-II with no idle problem (coincidentally in preparation for installing twin T61 turbos). Whether the 95 pph injectors will work depends mostly on the engine displacement. If your engine is very small (so a 1.5 litre 4 cylinder), then staging two sets of injectors is probably a good idea, as Brian says.

MegaSquirt-II has spark retard and fuel cut rev limiting. A number of boost related features can be added using the spare outputs (http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/spare.htm).

The low impedance injector must have their current limited to prevent the injectors from burning up. Typically the limit is 2 Amps or so. This autmatically keeps the current thrugh the FET at safe levels, unless you are using more than 10 injectors per driver (i.e., 20 in total).

Thanks for the info guys. So the pwm will take care of current even that high? Well Lance, I Would be very interested to here of your progress when you get your turbos! I have had mine for a year just slow on progress and more money. I run a Weind blower now with a Demon on it. I have a best pass of a 12.46 at 110mph in a 4000lbs 71 Elcamino,(This was just a 350 mylearning curve motor) its been down for a broken trans case (the second one!) I think I found the problem now but have been draging my feet on fixing it. But a trip to the track to watch the NMCA run last weekend light my fire for speed again.Lance have you seen a guy sight called GrapeApeRacing.com He goes thew his build of a 383 too 857hp at 12lbs of boost. He does all his own work! that to me give you braging rights not these" look I bought a vett with 500hp" Thats what sent me to that race I was reading of one of the racers that said he had to do all this own work and runs 9.33 in a 80s Camaro 350 one turbo all steel body car .
