couple of questions

Post by buncey »

ok i have managed to get my engine running with megasquirt 2.2,

couple of questions,

i keep worring about letting it run for over 10 secsonds incase its running lean, so how do i monitor as dont want it melting a piston :( do i keep an eye on lamba sensor dial in megatune if it goes in the red?
sorry maybe im overreacting but dod hear you keep a eye on one one the dials in megatune.

p.s when it was running the lambda dial in megatune stopped at 0.50?

also it seems to be running lumpy, and engine repsonce is slow when i press accelerator theres like a 3 sec delay, also i noticed most the time when i start it it backfires then starts, then after say 4 secs the idel speed increses then goes back down.

anyone advize, im mostly want to know how i monitor or look out if its going into meltdown

version of ms and brief defails on your setup ?

id you are just idling, you are not going to melt piston.
melting piston occur at high load/rpm...

do you have wide or narrowband exygen sensor ?

1. what you want to do now is to getnerate ve table as per your engine requirements.

2. get it to start

3. adjust FUEL_req until idle is nice. I'd recommend warming up engine on slightly rich then if your engine is pretty normal then you should be able to make it idle on 14.7:1 afr.

once it warmed up and idles nicely, make sure it start nicely when warm and stuff..

furhter procedure differs whether you got wideband or narrwoband.

i have MSnS-E code and the firmware (code version) is 029q2.

oh ok so if im idling theres no way of damaging or melting piston? even if i rev it a few rpm

i have a narrowband oxygen sensor,

does this ve table settings look on for a 2.1 turbo zetec?

heres my constants page 1

i wasent sure on air-fuel ratio for bosch 803 injectors so i left it at 14.7 if anyone knows what it is i would be gratfull.

oh and heres a screen shot of my current ve table

You VE table needs to have kpas above 100kpa.
100kpa is approx atmospheric - a turbo engine will see above that
200kpa is approx 14psi boost.

also is there a dial i need to look at in megatune to watch how rich or lean its running? i.e danger signs?

thought i needed to watch the lamba dial for lean or rich, i.e red section = danger

Reduce the number of squirts to 1 or 2. With 4 squirts and a large injector on a small engine you will make idle and cruise difficult to tune.

You did Import the generated Vex table didn't you?

You will need to dial the cranking settings in yourself, I cannot guess what is right for your engine. I would use the standard priming pulse instead of the table.

Likewise I don't know what VE table is right for your engine, but you do need kpa values up to your maximum boost level - that's for sure.

Those idle revs look a little low?
