HEI 7pin Base Timing?

Post by hippled »

Hello
Does anyone know if you can run the 7 pin HEI module without the MS taking over after crank(running)? Does the module act as a 4 pin with out the "B" pin give 5v?

Dave,

If you remove 5 Volts from the B pin, the 7-pin module will fire at the base timing at all rpms and loads. In fact, OEM installations have a connector for just this purpose (usually on a tan wire), it lets you set the timing easily.

Thanks for the answer Lance. I have another question. does the base timming change? or is a a fixed amount. Liek dot it get a hight advancement for higher rmp's?

Dave,

Yes, if you remove the 5 Volts from the bypass pin to put it in cranking mode, the timing does NOT change with higher rpms. It will be whatever you have set it to (by rotating the distributor).
