No rpm signal

Post by El Nagro »

Hello,

I have my MS1 v3 board running MSnS-E 29q code all hooked up in the car now. I went to start the car today and I found out i have no rpm signal. The rpm gauge on the screen doesnt even flinch and stays at 0 at all times. I check and verified that all the jumpers needed for the VR sensor none inverted is correct. The vr sensor is creating voltage around 200mv's or so at cranking. All my other sensors seam to be functioning properly but I cant get an rpm signal, obviosly it wont go into cranking mode so the injectors arnt pulsing either and basicly nothing happens lol. I am realy unsure as to why I would be getting no input for tach signal as I am getting voltage from the VR sensor to the ms unit.

Any input would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks,
Joe
Hopfully my project will run one day :)

El Nagro,

Does it work on the stim?

First, make sure your jumpers are correct for the VR circuit (see the assembly guide). Also, make sure you haven't missed any components in the VR circuit.

Second, make sure you have turned the R56 and R52 pot screws about fully counter-clockwise (25 turns will do it).

Third, if you haven't already, wash the board in 99% isopropyl alcohol or acetone, rinse it in hot water, and let it dry really well.

Finally, check that you do not have solder bridges between the very closely spaced leads on Q22 and Q23. If you do, use a solder wick (a fine ribbon of braided copper) and a hot soldering iron to melt and soak up any excess solder.

Lance.

Well I looked over my board and cant find anything physcialy wrong with it. I also turned off the wheel decoder and found that both my crank and cam angle sensors were able to create a tach signal. I am now thinking that I am having a problem with my 2nd trigger (cam) conditioner circuit isnt working properly.

I am using the GPIO Vr conditioning circuit shown here: http://www.megasquirt.info/gpio/vr.htm

Has anyone else had issues with using this with the ms1 v3 board?? I am goin to check over the circuit tomarrow and posibly redo it..... if that doesnt fix the problem it looks like I ll have to buy an osciloscope and see whats happening.
