Tuning without MSnS-E connected?

Post by AK-Z »

I have a v2.2 MSnS-E but I haven't had time to put it together yet. Its going into my 280z with a KA24DE from a S14 240sx.

I was wondering if there is a way to mess with tuning of the base map in megatune without having my MS unit hooked up.

Yes, you can setup your tuning "offline" first, but you MUST load in the default settings first.

To do this you need to configure Megatune for the MS1/Extra code as per the instructions and setup your degC or degF and wideband in settings.ini

(You need to do this whether online or offline tuning)

Then run Megatune and File->Open, go find the default....msq that came in the zipfile of MS1/Extra.
For example, it might be in
C:\efi\029q2\default_files

Then File Save-As, go back to the normal place:
c:\Program Files\Megasquirt\car1
and save it as
mycar or the whatever.

Then you can open this file, tune, save it. When you are ready you'll be able to quickly load the data into your car. By opening the file when connected and saying "yes" when it asks about Burning to controller.
