Cranking PW, ASE warmup tuning
Here are my symptoms:
Cold Cranking 40~80 the engine will fire initially, continue on to fire a few more times and die. Adjusting the ASE is difficult because by the third try the engine will fire and run. I have been thinking i am too rich so i have been leaning out the ASE and not touching the CPW. Getting the first try setting down has proven to be difficult.
Cranking at operating temp 170+ the engine will fire, the next cycles are rough as if there is a miss then the RPM will clear up and raise to 1500 and drop down to 1000 with the ASE kicking in. This miss is new and does it at any temp.
My Cranking PW is linear 4.0-12.0 on the table from bottom to top respectively. I did find a post from Bottlefed70 where Lance commented his CPW are 20% of Req Fuel at 170 and 85% at -40. In my application that would mean i should be 1.2-5.4 bottom to top scale.
What i am beginning to wonder is, if my CPW is high, would these symptoms occur. Could i be loading up the intake port causing the engine to have difficulty transitioning from Cranking to ASE.
I have lowered the ASE to the point it wont run and richened until it will. However once the car cools off for a few hours and is back at square one i have the same problem cold starting until i hit 3-4 tries.
Any thoughts? This is the first time i have had any issue with this area of tuning. MY warmup have been lowered to the point i am at 14.0 during the variious temp areas from a cold start at 40F once the ASE is off. we atre talking numbers around 104 at 60F and 108 at 40F

Cranking PW, ASE warmup tuning
causes GammaE to read low at startup for some reason. I am sure James
is working on it as it has been identified for only a few days.Try an
earlier 029 code if you need the rpmAE or PWMidle (not 029j or j1 for
sure) or dwell control.

I did more toying with the settings this morning and got to thinking. If the ASE is a percentage of Req Fuel, then lowering the Req Fuel should result in higher ASE numbers. Mine were extremely lower, fo some reason through the tunign process i got the idea i was way to rich in my head. So i raised the numbers 15% over the old range of numbers i had and sure enough the stumbling between CPW and ASE went away. I will have to wait a few hours to see if the first fire symptoms are corrected.
I will look into the other vesion you mentioned and beware of the 029 code and its bugs.
The numbers i found in search def did not work for my application. The CPW were not large enough to get the engine to fire.
