Just wanted to chime in, I also have an old VW with a new (2001) 2L motor. Mine is the AEG, similar to the ABA, without the distributor.

I don't have too much to suggest as your motor's alot more built than mine is, but I'll give it a guess.

For your decel issue, just sounds like theres too much ...

I think you're right, my timing light seems to act a little goofy when I turn the dial. I'm going to just get a better one and then we'll see whats really going on.

Ok, with the SAW line disconnected, I get 15 degrees BTDC. Unfortunately, I must have messed up as to the exact positioning of the missing tooth. Moving the wheel isn't really an option since clearance is so tight, I'd have to drop the motor to remove the pulley. I'll have to look into ...

I've had my car running great on EDIS for about a year. I've just installed the cam and now I have to make big adjustments to my map for it to run correctly. It's very difficult to tune for a good idle. I just have a few questions.

I had a similar issue. What do your spark plugs look like when you pull them? My car was being extremely picky with spark plugs after going to the EDIS setup.
