Unless you've got a black hole in your map, then i'd suspect that you've run out of fuel - either injectors have maxed out on duty cycle, or there's a problem with either the FPR or fuel pump.

Another possibility - do you have a really wild cam which comes "on cam" at about 4000rpm? Your MAP ...

If you can find a Bosch K-Jetronic powered motor (80's VW/Audi?) then the Bimetallic variable unit as shown in the Megamanual works fine on mine - no need to use the FIDLE wire (leaving it spare for MSnS...)
