Re: lost RPM signal

Problem solved. Thought I would post the solution so many post always end with unfinished problems and it makes it difficult to find answers. After talking with tech at DIYautotune the resistor at R20 on the circuit board had shorted out and the fix is to solder a 1/2 watt resistor (case closed ...

Re: lost RPM signal

interesting new development! I just got the spare microsquirt module and doing some trouble shooting it seems that there is not a good signal in the wiring. will go through the wiring and see if there is a problem there.

Re: lost RPM signal

I had a chance to check the wiring and currently the same signal from the ignition module that drives the tach is connected to opto+ and opto- is connected to 12v. Originally I was going to use the coil negative but changed it to not get a signal disruption from using an air shifter I think they use ...

Re: lost RPM signal

I should also ad that the same output drives the tach and seems to be working normally. after the priming pulse the bike will run for about 1 or 2 seconds and the tach will shoe rpm.

Was starting the bike and the battery got low so put a battery charger on set at 40 amps that I have done before but this time as soon as ...

Re: 2000 Yamaha Vmax

I am not sure if trying to use the crank pickup sensor if worth the trouble. I can get a good signal by using the coil negative wire. my only concern is what will the microsquirt ecu do when I use the ignition kill shifter or the aftermarket launch limiter?

Re: 2000 Yamaha Vmax

thanks for the intell. it might not be worth it to use the pickup. if I use the negative side of coil for pickup I don't want to have issues with my shifter that uses an ignition kill to make the shift or what kind of issues that I might have with an aftermarket launch limiter.
