Re: Using Idle control for fan

Got it working. Only gotcha was the wiring, it wasn't clear at all how to do it. Since the pin was labeled as an output I tried to drive a relay with it and it didn't work. After way to much searching I found a wiring diagram. Turns it out it grounds the pin. A couple wiring changes later and it's ...

Re: Using Idle control for fan

Looking at the connector pin out I don't see anything labeled as a spare output.

Using Idle control for fan

I'm wondering if I can setup the idle control on my V2 microsquirt to control a fan instead? Looking at the settings in TunerStudio it looks to be coolant temp based all ready. I'm not sure if it energizes the output when the coolant temp is reached or cuts the output on that pin though. It seems ...

Re: 3cyl 2stroke brainstorming

I'm a little late to the party here but I think your injectors will not be nearly large enough. I'm running a 170cc single cylinder two stroke and ended up using a 490cc injector. I am in the high 70% duty cycle at peak power of 25whp which occurs at 9,750rpm. I started with a 260cc injector and ...

Re: How to hook up MSD GMR 8918?

I found an answer with some in depth searching. This really seems like it should have been easier to find or maybe even be in the manual. The tach output from the MSD goes to optoin+ pin 30 and you ground optoin- pin 31 to chassis ground.

How to hook up MSD GMR 8918?

I am running a fuel only microsquirt and had a heck of a time getting a clean tach signal for it. I have purchased an MSD GMR pickup to get the tach signal off the coil. It outputs a 12v square wave. Here is the MSD page- http://www.msdignition.com/2006/06-22.htm I'm not sure exactly how to hook ...

Re: Using Negative side of coil for pickup

OK progress has been made! I spliced into the two wires from the VR sensor. I now have a tach signal. Im still not there yet though. When cranking the tach is reading very high. I see it jump to 18,000rpm then seems to settle into the 7,000-9,000rpm range. I'm not sure what the real rpm is at ...

Re: Using Negative side of coil for pickup

It has two wires. Shop manual says it has a resistance of 280-420 ohms @ 68 degrees. The I guess what you'd call trigger tooth on the flywheel is strip of metal ~2" long x 1/4" wide x 1/8" high on a 6" diameter flywheel.

There is also a much larger three wire coil that the shop manual calls a ...

Re: Using Negative side of coil for pickup

Yes it is a CDI ignition. I may have to use the input signal to the CDI? Not what I wanted to hear. Ive read through using the flywheel triggers and it comes across as VERY difficult. With out an oscilliscope(to see what the flywheel trigger outputs) I have no idea how to setup the microsquirt.

Using Negative side of coil for pickup

Im doing a fuel only Microsquirt on a single cylinder motorcycle. I've got everything wired up in the way that I think is correct but I don't see any rpm signal when cranking. So obviously my interpretation of how to do it is wrong. I see two ways I messed up. First is I took the optoin- put a 4 ...
