The coil fires if you ground it manually. It seems that megasquirt is not sending a spark. How can I test the VB921?

I just figured something out. I can test the coil by grounding it manually and seeing if a spark comes out of the spark plug. I guess this will tell me if megasquirt is broken or if it's my coil.

What is the 5v going to SPR1 for?

The wiring of the VB921 and tach input appears to be ok. You are getting rpm displayed during cranking aren't you?

Have you changed the VB921 since it was miswired? Maybe it got broken somehow?

James

The 5v is actually power to the hall sender. The VW hall ...

Can someone take a look at my board and tell me if you think that I did something wrong? I can get better pics if needed. I know these are kind of blurry.

I think you tried to help me with the VB921 once before and I had it wired wrong. I don't remember exactly what I did with the wiring but it is wired off of LED17 now with the 330 ohm resistor and then I just used one of the extra output wires on the DB37. I did test it with a multimeter and I ...

What are my Spark Options? VB921 not working...

I have Megasquirt 1 with a version 3.0 PCB. I'm trying to run Megasquirt and Spark for ignition control with the VB921 hooked up to a distributor. I'm not getting any spark and i've been troubleshooting this for about 6 months now. I've searched high and low for answers and I haven't found anything ...

I can't say that I know what each wire does on your coils, but you have 4 coils. There is enough outputs on the V3 board to drive each coil. You could use either MSnSE or MS2 for that.

I'm also using v3 pcb with msnse. I have a US 2.0 ABA engine which utilizes a bosch 60-2 trigger wheel on the crank. To the best of my knowledge the following are the correct settings for using a VR sensor:

I can't get this stupid sensor to work so I am just going to buy a Ford magnetic crankshaft sensor at autozone. Maybe i'll have to glue it in the hole, maybe it'll bolt up. Who knows.

And it would be helpful if you can check for voltages on the harness end of the crank sensor connector with the ignition on (just to avoid confusion let me say that i mean check for voltage between ground and each pin, rather than between the pins, so use engine ground or battery ground or the like ...
