Processor reset problem

Post by pmantipl »

I'm detecting processor resets in my datalogs which sometimes results in the engine quiting (I think that's the cause).

Does anyone know how to fix this issue or what normally triggers the resets?

thanks,

Paul,

Resets are most often caused by poor grounds at the engine, battery or frame (or the MegaSquirt ground itself), OR a 'noisy' alternator.

Try tightening the various grounds. If that doesn't work, shut the engine off, disconnect the alternator temporarily, and start the engine - if the resets disappear, your alternator is the problem. Either replace it ($$$) or add a stereo power filter to your MegaSquirt power line (these are cheap an commonly available from most electronics stores and anywhere that sells aftermarket car sound systems). Be sure to shut the engine off before re-connecting the alternator.

Let us know what you find.

Lance.
